Current Therapies

Stem cell transplantation whether the source of the cells is from cord blood or bone marrow is a standard medical procedure. An estimated 45,000-50,000 stem cell transplants are performed annually worldwide. As the treatments improve and options for stem cell sources expand this number will only continue to grow. Wharton's Jelly/Cord Tissue stem cell therapy is still in the preclinical phase of development. However, there are currently over 150 clinical trials underway using Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from bone marrow and adipose tissue.
